Rhinestone buttons are readily available online, so you shouldn’t have any trouble tracking them down.  The first thing you need to know is the size and style that you’re looking for, because that will make your search much easier.  Assuming you know what you want the buttons for, it’s probably relatively easy to determine the size you need.  So the question then becomes, what style are you looking for?

Rhinestone buttons come in a huge variety of styles.  First of all are the buttons which are simply made up of a single flat-backed rhinestone mounted on a plastic or metal backing, which contains some kind of clip or fastener to allow you to sew the buttons on to your clothing.  These buttons come in all sizes and simply provide the appearance of a sparkling gemstone on your clothes.

Then there are buttons which are circular or oval in shape and again have a plastic or metal backing, but instead of a single large stone, they contain several small ones in some kind of pattern, usually a circle or star shape.  These buttons are a little more subtle that the full rhinestone buttons.

There are also many rhinestone buttons available which do not have a set shape back or use flat backed stones.  These may be, for example, certain shapes made from a series of small rhinestones and set in metal.  Before buying these consider how practical they are for your clothing – for example, if you’re making something for a small child, these might not suit.  If, however, you’re making an article of clothing in which the buttons are more for show than for practical use, these may be ideal.

Always remember also that, because rhinestones today are almost always made of glass or acrylic, they come in a huge variety of colors, from blue and red through to yellow, turquoise and much more.  This can add an additional accent to your clothing and create a very stylish feeling if they are used correctly.

One more thing that you should know before you order your buttons is how many you are going to need.  Many stores, both online and offline, have a minimum order for small items such as buttons, so you need to know if you’ll meet that minimum before you try to order.  Also, if you need a significant amount, you may be able to get a bulk discount if you order enough buttons at once.  Always remember to order several more buttons than what you think you’ll need, both so you have spares for your clothes for the future and also so that you have some leeway if you make mistakes or miscalculate how many you’ll actually need for the clothing.
